Award winning Film-maker and Explorer, Leonardo Avezzano documents the adventure of life and explores human potential, carrying a camera to areas very few people can. 

He lives, breathes, and takes an active part in the variety of assignments and personal projects he undertakes. His innate passion for the outdoor and the planet have led him around the world, from Everest to the Sahara, from crossing the jungle of Borneo to diving between the tectonic plates, thriving as both an image-maker and an explorer. 

He’s the first person who has crossed Iceland from the arctic circle to the Atlantic Ocean and crossed the biggest glacier in Europe, the Vatnajokull, passing through the biggest lava desert in the world in the worst summer of the last 100 years, solo and unsupported. He believes that “change is the only constant in the universe” and made this quote a fundamental part of his life. After 10 years of successful experience in the corporate world, he decided to change course and follow his heart and passion, inspiring people with stories with the objective of inspiring positive change.. 

Outside of embarking on great adventures, he helped The Ocean Cleanup to clean an area the size of 500.000 football pitches in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, raised funds for war wounded children with INARA and won several awards at International Film Festivals around the world with his documentary “The Promise”.

Textile industry is the second biggest polluting sector in the world. Human Material Loop use keratin waste (hair) to develop technologies that offer better performances with 0 impact on the planet. Leonardo developed and tested a jacket filled with keratin waste (hair) and became the first human to have climbed a 7000 meters mountain with this gear. Documenting the full process.

The Ocean Cleanup mission is to clean the ocean from plastics by developing technologies which minimize time and costs of the operation. But what to do with the plastic? Leonardo led a team to create a full campaign called “from trash to treasure”, launching the first product made from ocean plastic, where 100% of the proceeds where funding the continuation of the cleanup. 25.000 sunglasses made with ocean plastic, to clean an area of 500,000 football fields worth of plastic. A video series accompanied the process of the cleanup, including a partnership with Safilo, DNVGL.
